Permanent - Competition # 12 30 01  

Applications are invited for the permanent position of Investigator in the Legal/Investigations Department.  This position is located in the St. John’s office and is included in the bargaining unit.   

DEFINITION OF WORK 
The Investigator is responsible for providing prompt, effective, objective fact-finding services internally and externally involving information of a sensitive nature regarding entitlement and obligations of all stakeholders; prevention, detection and deterrence of abuse and fraud through collaboration with employers, employees and the general public.  

QUALIFICATIONS 
Qualifications for this position include a university degree, preferably in the Social Sciences or Business and three years’ experience in the investigative field.  Must have a thorough knowledge of the legislation as it pertains to investigative work and must be cognizant of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act, regulations, policies and procedures.  Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, decision making abilities and the ability to use independent judgment in providing feedback and recommendations are essential. 

Must have knowledge of investigative and questioning techniques, a demonstrated high level of organizational skills and the ability to work independently.  

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  

SALARY         This position carries a classification of 404 points 
                        Salary Scale - $52,261 - $57,657
