It has recently come to the attention of the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission (the Commission) that employers have been approached by a debt settlement firm in the United States who may be leaving the impression that they are acting on behalf of the Commission. 

The Commission wishes to advise its employer clients that all matters of outstanding debt are handled through the Commission’s Assessment Services Department.  The Commission does not utilize the services of a third party collection or debt settlement agency and employers in the province should take note that such agencies do not act on behalf of the Commission.  Employers are encouraged to take great care in verifying the identity of any debt collector and to clarify whether or not they are speaking directly to the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Commission.
