An orientation session is available upon request to new employers and OH&S committees. The purpose of the session is to explain the positive impact an OH&S committee has on dealing with workplace health and safety issues and how they can work to reach their health and safety goals. Participants will use the principles learned to:
- establish an OH&S committee
- develop a terms of reference
- guide the meeting process
- plan workplace inspections
- participate in accident/incident investigations
- promote health and safety throughout the workplace.
Once the session is provided, the Commission's co-ordinators of OH&S committees will continue to monitor activities by attending the firm’s first two OH&S committee meetings and reviewing the minutes of meetings. The OH&S committee will be assessed and further intervention will be recommended when required.
