Workplace Health, Safety & Compensation Commission of Newfoundland and Labrador
How case management works

endMenu
The Commission has three offices in the province: St. John’s, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook.

In our St. John’s office, there are five case management teams that manage claims based on industry groupings for eastern Newfoundland.

Our Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook offices work with employers and workers from their respective areas. While these teams are geographically based, team members are assigned to specific industries. Corner Brook looks after claims in Labrador.

Each case management team includes:

The Case Manager
  • Ensures timely medical services;
  • Assists in your early and safe return to work planning; and
  • Provides support during the labour market re-entry process.

The Client Service Assistant

  • Determines long-term benefit rate, entitlement to child care expenses and other expenses related to labour market re-entry programs.

The Health Care Benefits Assistant

  • Determines entitlement to health care items;
  • Issues purchase orders to service providers; and
  • When necessary, arranges travel to medical appointments.

The Team Lead

  • Coaches and mentors team members; and
  • Coordinates overall case management with respective team members.
